IKE '08 Technical Track on Organizational Knowledge Engineering
Call For Papers
All human organizations develop, over time, implicit knowledge on how
to perform tasks, communicate among members, and obtain resources in
pursuit of the organization's mission and goals. Sometimes referred
to as ``Tribal Knowledge,'' this information is traditionally acquired
by new members through face-to-face interactions ranging from formal
training to informal hallway encounters.
In the contemporary Internet age of virtual enterprises, where members
are distributed globally, these kinds of in-person interactions are
difficult, if not impossible. Yet virtual organizations such as open
source software projects, global enterprises, and massive multi-player
games still manage to disseminate implicit knowledge to newcomers,
often with great efficiency.
This technical track, part of the International Conference
on Information and Knowledge Engineering, seeks to bring together
researchers interested in organizational knowledge discovery, capture,
analysis, management, visualization, and dissemination.
Contributions are invited on, but not limited to, the following topics
related to organizational knowledge:
knowledge mining
capture of implicit knowledge
hidden workflow discovery
virtual informal communication
modeling and analysis of organizational knowledge
e-training and e-learning
knowledge visualization
search and discovery
games as knowledge-based organizations
applications to specific problems or domains
emerging technologies for organizational knowledge management or
dissemination
We invite contributions of both full and short papers. Full papers
must be seven pages or less in IEEE conference proceedings format.
Short papers should be four pages or less.
Papers should be sent via email (as MS .doc or PDF attachments) to
ikeoke08@engr.scu.edu.
The first page of the draft paper should include: title of the paper,
and the name, affiliation, postal address, email address, and
telephone number for each author. The first page should also identify
the name of the corresponding author and up to five topical keywords
that would best represent the content of the paper. Papers must not
have been previously published or currently submitted for publication
elsewhere.
In the body of the email message please identify the attachment as
either a full or short paper, and include contact information for the
corresponding author.
The length of the Camera-Ready papers will be limited to seven IEEE
conference style pages. Detailed formatting information will be
provided along with the notification of acceptance; the following
links provide information about, and templates for, the desired format.
